Dilemmas of Choosing the Right Path to Teaching
So I am trying to decide what subject area and grade levels I want to continue pursuing in my education. For the past 2 years I have been a Spanish Education major. I also have a Theatre minor. I was going to switch Spanish to a minor, then realized that there is only a three class difference in a Spanish major and a Spanish minor. So now I'm keeping it in the major mix. I am now thinking of adding some English and History to my education. I am having trouble deciding what grade level I would like to be able to teach as well. With Spanish Education, I will be certified K-12. For English and History, I need to decide if I am going to get certified for grades 7-12 (high school level) in both subject areas, or the grades 4-9 (focused on the junior high years) with concentration in those two areas of English and History. I also need to find out if I can just do one student teaching for everything or if I would have to do one student teaching for each certification. These are my diemmas. I know I must make some decisions very quickly and with God's help. * PRAYER * PRAYER * PRAYER *

I wonder how the decision-making is going. One thing to keep in mind is that the decisions made now are not final. You can always add licensure areas later. I have done several things in my career that I never even thought of while I was in college. My master's was in an area that I would not have predicted while in college. Some of the opportunities I have had and which I enjoyed were surprises, too. The one constant during my career has been that I always had the attitude that I was serving the Lord.
